Cletus R. Swanson - Online Memorial Website

I worked for Cletus at the Pere Marquette/Hilton from 1970-1973 while I was in high school. He was a great postive influence and mentor to me. I was a busboy and I trained for asst maître'd cooking tableside on the weekends in the Peoria Room. He taught me everything about cooking tableside, flaming dinners/desserts and setting up the Dining Room for what event was taking place during the week. Clete was like a 2nd Dad to me. We often when to lunch together on Saturdays before the evening @ the Peoria Room with Billy Hill and his Orchestra. I enjoyed working @ the hotel during my high school years. After graduating in 73, I entered the US NAVY and retired after 26 yrs. I was just home in East Peoria because my Dad just passed away on FEB 6th. Cletus was a wonderful friend and a very positive influence in my life. It was a privilege to know him. I am truly sorry to hear of his passing. Cletus will be sorely missed. My condolences to Darmon and family.

Just saw Uncle Cletus at Thanksgiving. He was a great uncle. We will miss him GREATLY. We send our condolences to Darmon and Lauren. 

My father Jack worked with Cletus at the Pere for many years.  I missed seeing Cletus at he Bradley games.  We always talked or at least waved to each other.  He was a  very nice man. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

I enjoyed working with Clletus at Tuesday Morning.  He was so proud of his family especially Lauren.  Great man, my pleasure to know him.

My parents and I were very fond of Cletus. I remember his smile and considerate nature and I will always treasure the message he sent when my mother passed away. May he rest in peace.

I heard many stories about Cletus from my grandmother, Monsita Ruiz Algren.  They were friends. She loved reading the Christmas cards she received from Cletus every year. When my Nana passed we received a lovely letter from Cletus, nicely typed.

Cletus was a very special person to our family.  He and my parents were very close and we all have many wonderful memories of Cletus over the years! 

We are sorry to hear Cletus has passed, but he is in a better place now and he is at peace.
